Art Direction

Third Skin is a fictional portrait study focused on clothing as line, protection and posture. A tightly framed male figure dressed in black provided the starting point: an image where expression, fabric and controlled light carry equal weight.
Otho shaped the art direction around close crops, restrained gesture and a narrow tonal range. Black garments are separated through texture rather than colour, while highlights define the face and the edges of the silhouette. The approach avoids narrative props, keeping attention on how the subject occupies the frame and how the clothing changes that presence.
The visual system is designed for an editorial sequence, campaign stills and concise digital presentation. Alternating profile, detail and direct portrait views creates rhythm without requiring a large image set. Typography sits at the periphery as a quiet index, allowing the photographs to remain immediate. Third Skin functions as an independent concept in photographic direction: specific in mood, consistent across formats and grounded in what is visible rather than an invented product or organisation.
